General Contracting
Plan B Construction, Inc. provides professional services in all aspects of construction and contracting. The General Contracting Division has the expertise to provide cost-effective, turnkey management, lifetime energy savings and general construction services for any given project in the Central Virginia area.

Plan B serves as a single point of contact for all related issues, and coordinates all phases of construction, starting with design analysis / evaluation and continuing through project construction completion. An experienced team of project managers oversees the general day-to-day jobsite operations, insuring quality construction, compliance with contract documents and project timeline.

Building Design Entity
Today, architects and engineers designing new buildings and / or major renovations need to understand the electricity market factors in order to help clients minimize operating costs. The deregulation of the electricity market has changed the way electricity is priced, and it should change the way buildings are designed to realize the most efficient and economical use of electricity. The building design must recognize market values. At Plan B, our certified energy engineer, with over 20 years of energy engineering experience, evaluates the energy system requirements on each project and will make appropriate energy improvement recommendations to the designer that will pay great dividends to the building owner in avoided operational cost. Plan B is determined to save our clients energy operational costs in the buildings we construct.

Fast-Track Construction
Plan B Construction, Inc. provides both architectural / engineering and construction resources under a single contractual arrangement. We team up with architects and engineering designers to provide clients with a long-lasting quality investment at the lowest total cost. Significant savings are realized in both construction time and investment dollars, as we are able to "Fast-Track" or accelerate the building process when clients are confronting a tight budget and short schedule. Along the way, we value engineer each system component on the project relative to first costs, quality assurance, as well as long-term operating and maintenance costs. Pre-Construction Feasibility
Plan B's estimators - schedulers, with project scope analysis expertise, can develop a project feasibility estimate that can assist clients to determine if a project venture is worthwhile to pursue funding / and or financing. Feasibility estimates are prepared from quantified planning concept drawings and / or sound work scope information obtained from the client. Feasibility estimates are order of magnitude in nature and are prepared on an unescalated dollar basis.

 

Value Assessment
At Plan B our clients are our top priority. Our in-house estimators - schedulers, engineering personnel and project managers, skilled in value engineering, thoroughly evaluate and analyze all project design drawings and specifications, quality of materials, schedule and system costs to ensure the client receives the most cost-effective building project. The A/E consultant's selection of proper materials, methods and system equipment specified for the project requires constant attention and at Plan B, we must assure ourselves that it adequately serves its intended function at the lowest total cost. This ongoing process enables our clients to save on their investment dollars, and most of all, it improves the overall quality, reliability and long-term operational conditions of the construction project.

Project-Site Management
At Plan B, we have experienced Project Management (PM) personnel to identify and oversee the construction process from conceptual design development thru construction completion. The PM is the single source solution at the construction site. In his professional capacity, he is responsible for establishing and maintaining good working relationships with all contractors involved in the project; ensuring competent and consistent contract administration, such that the project is completed on time, within budget, and to an acceptable level of quality; and evaluating, coordinating, and implementing changes to construction contracts. General day-to-day jobsite responsibilities include, and are not limited to, daily reporting and listing of the major construction activities and their respective percentages of completion, significant items which affect quality, cost and / or schedule, such as material or equipment deliveries, etc., monthly progress reports indicating the progress of the project from the previous month to the current month, and contractor compliance to approved construction schedule along with projections of the effect the current status will have on the contract dates and timelines.
